Kidney cancer

The abnormal cell growth in your kidney tissue is known as kidney cancer. These cells eventually gather into a mass known as a tumor.

Symptoms of kidney cancer

In its early stages, kidney cancer may not show any signs at all. But as the tumor develops, symptoms could start to show. Because of this, kidney cancer frequently isn't discovered until it has started to spread.

Symptoms of kidney cancer may include:

  • Blood in your urination (hematuria).
  • A tumor or lump near your kidneys.
  • Pain in flank
  • Tiredness.
  • A general feeling of being unwell.
  • Appetite loss.
  • Loss of weight.
  • A minor fever.
  • Bone aches.
  • Blood pressure problems.
  • Anemia.

Tests

The following tests may be recommended by the doctor to confirm the presence of Kidney Cancer:

  • Blood and urine testing
  • Ultrasound
  •  CT scans,
  • MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging
  • PET-CT Scan
  • Renal mass biopsy

Treatment:-

The course of treatment for kidney cancer is determined by the size and stage of the tumor, as well as your age and general health. Surgery, ablation, radiation therapy, targeted medication therapy, immunotherapy, and occasionally chemotherapy are available as alternatives.

  • Surgery

For the majority of kidney cancer stages, surgery is the recommended treatment. The following surgical options could be taken into consideration:

  1. Partial kidney removal(Partial Nephrectomy)
  2. Radical nephrectomy(Laproscopic or Robotic)
  3. Ablation(Cold and heat can occasionally kill cancer cells. Cryoablation or radiofrequency ablation may be beneficial for people who are not candidates for surgery.)
  • Radiation therapy

If you just have one kidney or are not a candidate for surgery, your doctor may advise radiation therapy. Most frequently, radiation therapy is used to relieve the pain associated with kidney cancer.

  • Targeted drug therapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Chemotherapy
