Kidney cancer
The abnormal cell growth in your kidney tissue is known as kidney cancer. These cells eventually gather into a mass known as a tumor.
Symptoms of kidney cancer
In its early stages, kidney cancer may not show any signs at all. But as the tumor develops, symptoms could start to show. Because of this, kidney cancer frequently isn't discovered until it has started to spread.
Symptoms of kidney cancer may include:
- Blood in your urination (hematuria).
- A tumor or lump near your kidneys.
- Ankle soreness.
- Tiredness.
- A general feeling of being unwell.
- Appetite loss.
- Loss of weight.
- A minor fever.
- Bone aches.
- Blood pressure problems.
- Anemia.
- High calcium.
Tests
The following tests may be recommended by the doctor to confirm the presence of Kidney Cancer:
- Blood and urine testing, CT scans,
- MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging
- Ultrasound
- Renal mass biopsy
Treatment
Laparoscopy is an effective method for removing the kidney completely (radical) or partially. To view and remove the kidney tumor or entire kidney, the instrument is inserted through small incisions in the abdomen. Laparoscopic surgery produces comparable results to open surgery, but with less postoperative pain, a shorter hospital stay, and faster recovery. Additionally, when the laparoscope images appear on the monitor, they are magnified, allowing doctor to see even more tissue detail than would be possible during traditional surgery.
