Urine leakage

Urinary incontinence is the leaking of urine that you can't control. There are types of urinary incontinence.

  • Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)

Stress incontinence occurs when weak pelvic muscles allow urine to escape. It is one of the most common types of urinary incontinence. It is common in older women. When you are active, the main symptom of SUI is leaking. The amount of activity and leaking depends on how severe the SUI is.

  • Overactive Bladder (OAB)

OAB, is characterized by a frequent and unexpected urge to urinate that can be difficult to control. It is also called "urgency" incontinence. The most common symptom of OAB is an uncontrollable urge to urinate.

  • Mixed Incontinence (SUI and OAB)

Some people leak urine with activity (SUI) and often feel the urge to urinate (OAB). This is mixed incontinence. The person has both SUI and OAB. Mixed incontinence (SUI and OAB) is characterized by leaking and a sudden, strong urge to urinate.

  • Overflow Incontinence

Overflow incontinence occurs when the body produces more urine than the bladder can hold or when the bladder is full and cannot empty, causing it to leak urine.
